The UK Delegation to the OECD (UKDEL OECD) represents UK interests at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). At UKDEL OECD you will be on the frontline of tackling the most pressing global challenges. We harness OECD data and expertise to support evidence-based policymaking and standards, and enable our UK delegates to exchange ideas and best practices with likeminded counterparts for a sustainable and inclusive future.
You will work in a fast-paced and diverse team to help UKDEL OECD deliver top HMG priorities, including in the areas of economic resilience, trade, gender equality, external relations, climate, energy, development, and tech and digital. The role entails
We are recruiting an intern to provide support to UKDEL OECD teams covering the following areas and general support to the Delegation:
- Economic, Trade and Social Policy;
- Governance and Technology;
- International Development and Gender Equality;
- Global Relations, Energy and Climate.
And general support to the Delegation.
Examples of work that the successful candidates might undertake include:
- Monitoring key OECD policy meetings and outputs, note-taking and producing regular reports for officials in Whitehall and in the FCDO network;
- Providing logistical and policy support for high-level events including Ministerial meetings and visits by Whitehall officials to the OECD. This could involve attending preparatory meetings, organising papers and registrations, writing briefings and official reports, and helping draft external comms lines;
- Helping the Delegation drive forward UK priorities in key OECD policy-focused committees such as the Trade Committee, Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy, Development Assistance Committee, External Relations Committee, Economic Policy Committee and in governance committees such as the Executive Committee and the Budget Committee;
- Keeping track of relevant media in the area of work;
- Identifying further opportunities for the UK to benefit from the OECD’s current and future work streams to achieve UK policy objectives;
- Supporting the relevant team with ad-hoc activities;
- Administrative and organisational support to the wider Delegation.
Our ideal candidate shows:
- Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken, minimum of C1 level for CEFR framework*).
- Knowledge of / interest in public policy, economic diplomacy, and the areas in which the OECD works, but not necessarily acquired in academia.
- Ability to deliver quickly, and show flexibility in the face of changing priorities or demands.
- Excellent communication skills, a good understanding of how to document and present information, and good judgement with an ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Resourcefulness and ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong attention to detail, an ability to find creative solutions, and an understanding of when to ask for support/guidance.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment with respect for diversity.
It will be a plus:
- Relevant experience or (vocational) qualifications (whether completed or in progress) in economics, social policy, international relations, or related fields.
- Good project-management skills.
- Good French-language skills(written and spoken) and any other OECD Member’s language.
This is a full-time (35hours/week), and fixed-term position.
All appointments are subject to professional background check satisfactory security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to provide a copy of his/her passport or national identity card for all nationalities held, an up-to-date criminal record (casier judiciaire) for recent countries of residence (which can be obtained online at casier-judiciaire.justice.gouv.fr), two written proofs of address (utility invoices and/or bank statements) and two references.

Internship Requirement: At the beginning of your internship you should be able to provide with internship agreement/convention de stage provided by your university/higher education establishment and liability insurance to cover your period of internship at the British Embassy

Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in France and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
